A VILLAGE HALL WE CAN BE PROUD OF
Thirty years have passed since the last significant changes were made to our village hall. Since then the kitchen has been upgraded, the roof repaired and the hall has been repainted. Now the Trustees have, after consultation with all the regular users, decided on a programme of urgent and necessary improvements. These will give Pratts Bottom a Village Hall it can be truly proud of.
- A completely rebuilt and extended entrance and toilet area. There will be bright, improved facilities and a toilet for disabled persons. All the facilities will meet today’s stringent standards. ★COMPLETED★
- A new layout with a welcoming entrance lobby designed to provide easier access for wheelchair users and the less mobile visitors. ★COMPLETED★
- A car park that is relaid to give level access to the hall entrances and exits, avoiding the need for any steps and ramps. This will make access easier and safer for everyone.
- A car park that is hard-surfaced, provided with better, screened lighting and levelled to increase parking capacity. These measures will enhance safety, reduce parking problems, improve the appearance of the Village Hall site and reduce any nuisance to local residents.
As a first step, a planning application has been submitted. It is estimated that the above programme alone will need a £100,000 budget although further work is also desireable to keep the kitchen up to modern standards and to install a hearing loop in the hall.
Our Village Hall is a registered Charity but it receives no income from external sources nor is it blessed with any endowments. The income from rentals to local societies, pre-school and casual hirings for parties etc. is only just sufficient to cover the running costs of cleaning, heat and light and a moderate amount of day-to-day maintenance.
To fund this work we are seeking grants from charitable foundations and public support agencies. These sources of finance are only ever likely to be on a matched funding basis. The Trustees will be running various fundraising events to try and meet the costs and hope these will receive your support.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
In the meantime, we ask for your generosity in the form of donations. If you are a taxpayer please donate under the Gift Aid scheme by completing this simple form. This will increase the value of your gift by 25% at no cost to you.
If your employer or organisation to which you belong runs any form of charitable support scheme then please let the Treasurer know.
THERE ARE MANY OTHER WAYS IN WHICH YOU CAN HELP
You can also contribute additional financial support by hiring our hall to celebrate family events such as birthdays, anniversaries or for a function or performance.
Why not organise a fundraising event yourself? Host coffee mornings, afternoon teas, or quiz evenings, a summer barbeque or arrange a local footpaths ramble. Small contributions could make a big difference to our Village Hall.
